Three ASDA Just Essentials products: a jar of mild curry sauce, a bag of potato pops, and a pack of eight pork sausages.

10 foods from Asda’s Just Essential Range that you might not realise are gluten free

You might have seen social media go crazy for Asda’s new Just essential range but how does it fare for those of us who are gluten-free? The range, which spans everything from meat to veggie and store cupboard essentials, offers plenty of bargains but there are also quite a few gluten-free choices in the Asda’s Just Essentials range that you may not have realised.

As well as the obvious ones that I won’t mention ( such as tons of fruit, veggies, chicken, and fish) here are some of the other items that you might not expect to be gluten-free! None of these items are labeled gluten-free but do not have gluten in the ingredients or a may contain warning for gluten. But as always, check labels carefully before you buy in case they change.

1. Just Essentials Pork Sausages

Sausages

Asda’s just essentials sausages are 96p for 8 sausages and don’t contain any gluten as they use rice and chickpea flour. Great for sausage slow cooker dishes!

1. Just Essentials Mashed Potato.

An easy instant mash for quick dinners-and under 70p!

3. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Chicken Curry & Rice

Not all of the ready meals in the range are gluten-free but this one is, as are a few others. This is just 90p in the freezer aisle.

4. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Fish Pie

Another quick ready-meal option-and only £1.35

5. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Lightly Salted Tortilla Chips

At just 43p, these are much cheaper than free from nachos but these contain just 3 ingredients: maize flour, rapseed oil and salt.

6. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Mild Curry Sauce

Currysauce 300x300

I hadn’t expected this sauce, which is just 28p, to be gluten-free but it is! It’s dairy free too! You really can’t go wrong for that price, whether making curries or just serving over chips.

7. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Sweet & Sour Cooking Sauce

Another gluten and dairy free sauce, and it’s only 42p! Perfect for a gluten-free Chinese fakeaway dish.

8. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Potato Pops

Potatopops

I am not sure what a potato pop is but it sounds delicious! At just 72p you’ll find these in the freezer aisle and they’re mainly potato and rice flour.

9. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Cottage Pie

Another ready meal option that’s gluten-free.

10. JUST ESSENTIALS by ASDA Chicken Curry bundle

Who needs a curry? This bundle includes rice, chicken fillets and their chicken curry sauce.
