The Best Gluten and Dairy Free Recipe Boxes (with discount codes)

Updated March 2021

Recipe boxes have exploded lately and I’m guilty of being subscribed to way too many! But which recipe boxes are best if you are gluten and/or dairy free?

Well, If you’re looking for meal inspiration on a free from diet, a way to cut down on your food shop or find gluten and dairy-free recipe boxes to make sure you eat a varied diet whilst being free from gluten or dairy, then this is the post for you.

It’s worth bearing in mind that not all gluten and dairy-free recipe boxes are suitable for coeliacs, I’ll explain which ones are in the post. I’ve also found that some recipe boxes are aimed more at a healthy diet in general but I find that with a few simple swaps (e.g. using your own soya sauce or butter) that they’re still doable on a gluten and dairy-free diet.

Here are all the boxes I’ve personally tried and my thoughts.

Gousto recipe kits offers an amazing variety of dishes, and they have now introduced ‘free-from’ versions too! Coeliac UK acceditated, you can filter menu choices by gluten-free, dairy free or plant based.

I’ve tried Gousto a few times (and reviewed it here) and I would say it’s my favourite gluten and dairy-free recipe box. It’s got specific categories which make it so easy and the recipes are straightforward but tasty! For 50% off your first box (and 30% off the next few) click here.

3. Hello Fresh: get £20 off your first box

Hello Fresh is one of the most popular recipe boxes on the market. Whilst it doesn’t offer Coeliac UK accreditation, it does offer a naturally gluten-free section with decent recipes and others which I’ve found very easy to adapt.

Of course, the beauty of recipe boxes is that you can see exactly what you’re buying upfront with the ingredients. All the allergens are clearly marked but, even for the recipes that aren’t gluten free, I’ll often I’ll just need to change things like soya sauce or gluten-free flour, which I’ve got to hand most of the time.

Hello Fresh probably has the most variety and rapidly changing recipes so it’s good if you constantly like to buy something new. Grab £20 off your first box here.

4. Simply Cook

Home Mobile Bg

Simply Cook is a great way to jazz up a meal- each box comes with recipes and the basic spices and sauces you’ll need (the actual main ingredients such as meat and veg aren’t included) .

They do a specific gluten-free box too which is great since many spice mixes have wheat added! Use this link for 50% off of your first box.

6. Good-Gluten Free (Your first box for £20)

A RECIPE BOX JUST FOR GLUTEN FREE FOLKS HAVE BEEN LAUNCHED 😱 (AD: I was sent a box to review) I’ve spoken on here lots about different recipe boxes I use; we don’t have too many takeaway options by us and there’s no Deliveroo either so we’ve been treated ourselves to lots of different recipe boxes for a change. I was really excited to learn @gooditsglutenfree have launched a 100% GF RECIPE BOX that’s safe for coeliacs and have lots of dairy free and/or veggie options too! 👏👏They sent me a box to try today and I’ll update on here once I have-but I received fish and chips (Which already comes battered and looks immense!), beef satay and chicken curry. It’s great to see a box where you don’t need to search far and wide for the gf option and with plenty of dairy free choices (which are even harder to find!) Have you tried @gooditsglutenfree yet?

These recipe boxes are a little different to most on the market: some of it comes prepared for you (so you’ll receive a pot of curry sauce rather than making it from scratch; which personally I prefer!) and it’s specifically focused for gluten-free folks. The gluten-free fish and chips (again a little different as there’s not much cooking element to this dish as it comes already battered) were hands down the best fish and chips I’ve had since being gluten-free. They have a range of other dishes such as katsu curry, beef satay, and halloumi burgers with plenty of veggie options too.

I don’t have a reader discount code but they currently have a deal where you get your first box for £20.

7. LOVE FREE FROM (15% off your first box)

Lovefreefrom

Not a recipe box but definitely worth a mention. Love Free From do gluten-free subscription boxes; which can also be ordered gluten&dairy free and gluten&oat free. What’s great is that you get a mix of products: from cooking staples to sweet treats and savoury snacks. Use JENNA15 for 15% off your first box.

.I hope the round-up has helped you- happy shopping! You might also find this post useful on gluten-free baking kits.

  1. This is a very helpful guide. Gluten certainly doesn’t agree with me though is not a major problem but it would be nice to know hoe to avoid it

  2. Have not tried a recipe box as always assumed it was too difficult to accommodate gluten free diets, but maybe now I’ll give it a go!

  3. I keep thinking about ordering a recipe box and then get put off by worrying about whether they’re gluten free or not. This is a really handy guide and so shall be definitely looking at ordering one or two

  4. Isabell Whitenstall

I usually cook very plain gluten free food but your review has made me think about maybe getting a box and seeing how it goes.

  5. Jeanette Chalmers

There’s a lot of options but most of them are too expensive for low income families. However they do give ideas to copy.

  6. Victoria Prince

A really useful guide. I’ve just had my first recipe box experience with Mindful Chef and I was really impressed – it was sooo nice to be able to browse every recipe without having to think. Especially as, as you say, it’s not always easy to find both gluten and dairy free. I’d love to try every company off your list!

  7. I see these boxes advertised all the time so deciding which one to try has deterred me from ordering. Your review was very helpful. Thank you.

  8. Excellent round up. I have been overwhelmed with choices. Only tried a couple, but will try some of your suggestions now.

  9. Jeanette Leighton

Fab some great money saving offers . I have tried one cooking box before I can’t remember which one it was though

  10. Patricia Avery

Thank you for such an informative post. I have tried a couple of these. Loved Hello Fresh but didn’t think the portion sizes with Pasta Evangelista were all that big. Suited me fine as I only have a small appetite but hubby loved the pasta still felt hungry afterwards
