As you all know, I am a full convert to the religion of juicing. Juicing is a great way of getting all of your nutrients, particularly with autoimmune diseases like crohn’s where your gastrointestinal tract might be compromised. Like most juice newbies, I started off with fruit but as I juiced more I weaned myself off these and moved towards different vegetables for juicing. While the occasional fruit juice doesn’t hurt anybody, using vegetables for juicing is a great way of controlling the sugar levels in your juice (to ensure you don’t get sugar spikes) while still getting all the health benefits of juicing. Today I’m going to share my top 5 vegetables for juicing and how they can help you! Hopefully they will inspire you to put down your apples and experiment in your kitchen!
1. CABBAGE: Cabbage is amazing but it doesn’t taste great. Juicing is a great way to get the goodness of it, particularly if you are juicing for crohn’s like many of my readers do. It heals the digestive tract and has been proven to reduce risk of colon cancer by 60%

2. TUMERIC: 2 words: anti-inflammatory. Tumeric works wonders for any inflammation, be it of the joints, skin or the gut It is pretty strong so try a few small pieces to begin. Word of warning: It gets everywhere, so wash your hands after using! .
3. PEPPER: Get the vit c hit without fruit. Peppers are bursting full of vit C (More than oranges in fact!) So chuck them in the juicer if you’ve got the winter sniffles!
4: CUCUMBER: This vegetable for juicing is all about cleansing! It will help purify everything and give you a good old clean out.

5: BEETROOT: Give your blood a boost! Beetroot is just pure goodness that jumps right to your blood cells. It can be great for anemia and it also heads to the liver and kidney’s to help them function. A little goes a long way so start small (and don’t be worried if you have red pee after juicing!)
Hopefully this has persuaded you just how great vegetable juicing can be! If you have any tips on other veggies to juice, then let me know below! If you have crohn’s, I’d definitely recommend checking out: www.juicing4crohns.com, if you know of any other juicing blogs-please post links! Finally, this is a great guide to growing your own fruit and veg to juice.

I am a mess with inflammation. I don’t know where to begin. I have read a lot about cleaning the gut but have no idea even where to start. I have cut out all refined sugar, processed foods, I have a natural fiber, 1/2 banana, and 2 tbls of natural powder peanut butter protein in the morning. I am in extreme pain in my hips, knees, back and man my shoulders and arms. Seems to be worst at night. I take an Ibprofen at night just so I can sleep. I have had MRI, CT Scan, Xtrays and they show nothing. My blood work came back with moderate inflammation factors. I use to be sooooo active. I am losing my mind and life. I use essential oils lavender, peppermint, and copaiba. I just am lost and looking for some kind of relieve except I wont take any more meds. I am crying just thinking of my pain and distress.
