Aldi hasn’t really been much of a go-to supermarket for free-from buys previously, but that seems to have all changed now! I blogged about Aldi special buy gluten-free week but now its vegan Special buy week-and along with it, are lots of new vegan products; including many which are also gluten-free.
‘I am vegan ready meals’: £1.99
There are three new vegan ready meals in the freezer section, all priced a very reasonable £1.99! The three varieties are Red Pepper and Mango Curry, Thai yellow curry and Smoky Jackfruit Chilli. These aren’t specifically marked gluten-free but there is no gluten in the ingredients and no ‘may contain…’ warning either.
Hellman’s Vegan Mayonaise £1.79
This is my fave vegan mayo and this price is much cheaper than the other supermarkets!
Summerpride Jackfruit: £1.19
I’ve not tried this so I’m not sure how reasonable it is for price when compared to other supermarkets.
Nutritional Yeast: £2.99
This is great for making vegan cheese!
Vegan Choc: £1.79
I didn’t think this was a great price for dairy-free chocolate but I’ve never heard of this brand so it might be a bargain!
Oat milk: 89p
This milk isn’t gluten-free as it uses regular oats, but I thought I’d give it a mention anyway as I know some of my readers are just wheat-free. It’s literally just oats and water as the ingredients; which is so refreshing compared to some brands which add sugar and lots of emulsifiers.
Free-from Pesto: £1.25
There’s plenty of free from pestos about now, but I think this is the cheapest-it’s about the same price as regular pesto!
Inspired Vegan Sauces: £1.49
Inspired vegan sauces are amazing (I blogged about one of them I’d purchased at a farm shop in my new gluten-free finds blog post. It cost double the price and I didn’t know there were so many varieties. They were also selling a caesar salad type dressing too. All the range is suitable for coeliacs.
Pulsin bars: £1.99
Cajun Quinoa: 99p
I think quinoa is quite expensive and, to be honest, a bit boring! So I loved the look of this- and great to pop in the microwave as an alternative to rice.
‘Cheezie’ Tortilla Chips: 99p
I love tortilla chips so can’t wait to give these a try!
