Being eight months into this parenting lark, I feel like I’ve got more of a feel for products that are actually useful and ones that have ended up on a dusty shelf somewhere! I’ve got quite a few friends who are new moms or pregnant so I thought I’d round up a list of presents I’ve loved (or would love to have to received) that any new mom will really appreciate. A few of these items were sent to me so I’ve marked these with a *
1.Snuffle Baby Bubble Bath*
Every mom is going to struggle with baby’s first cold and the whole Snuffle Baby range is so useful (I’ve bought the vapour rub and the nose spray) but this bubble bath is a lovely treat. I am obsessed myself with the vapour smell this gives off and it’s great to help clear little one’s stuffy noses.
2.Mam Teething Toy*
I talked about how much I loved Mam in my weaning guide (their heat-sensitive spoons are ace) but I also love their teething toys; which Jude finds really easy to grip. Ellie the Bee is great as it has two hands and is made from 100% natural rubber.
3.HOLD Jewellery
HOLD jewellery are an amazing jewellery company for new mums.
They do a stunning ring that helps you remember which boob you’ve fed on (perfect for breastfeeding mums who are exhausted) and also a beautiful bottle-feeding bracelet (which as a bottle-feeding mum I think is such a lovely idea; you rarely see this being celebrated.
4.Aveena Gift Set*
I find I go through so much body lotion and body wash when I bath Jude so bath goodies are always appreciated! This gift set from Aveena is perfect for bath time: it comes with a comforter, body wash and lotion for baby AND a body lotion for mom too.
5. A Year of Dates New Parents Date Box
Dates have been few and far between since having Jude so I’d have loved being gifted this new parent date box-which also includes baby-friendly ideas too. 10% of sales are donated to a charity that supports families with postnatal depression.
6.Scentered Hand wash and lotion duo*
You wash your hands SO much as a new mom that they quickly end up dried and chapped. Gifting a new mom a beautiful hand wash will not only help make this ritual a little bit more like me time, but the accompanying lotion will help keep their hands smooth; preventing against the horrid postpartum flaky skin! 7.COOK meal box
I know I’d have loved the gift of homecooked meals after Jude. Some days I struggled to eat 3 meals a day. COOK does a new parent meal bundle that sounds perfect (and have gluten-free options too!)
8. Giant Cookie
My lovely friend Emma has just had a little boy and I sent one of these new baby boy cookies from Yumble which she loved!
9. Sleep is for the weak:How to survive when your baby won’t go the f**k to sleep
This book (affiliate link) kept me sane in the early days so I’ve gifted it to every single person who has had a baby recently. It contains zero useful advice on sleep but will have you crying with laughter.
10. Light projector
I loved our light projector (like this one-affiliate link-but there’s literally hundreds on Amazon) when Jude was younger-it kept him quiet for ten minutes and allowed me to have a cup of tea in peace. You can get these cheaply on ebay or amazon and they’re such an easy way to engage young babies!
