Today I am going to talk to you about the Musclefood Do The Unthinkable plan-and whether it can be done on a gluten and dairy-free diet! Musclefood has kindly gifted me four weeks of their plan in exchange for my review.
Since having Jude almost four months ago, my diet has taken a massive nose dive! For the first few weeks, I remember being massively excited to actually eat more than one meal a day! I have really struggled to eat healthily and look after myself. So, when Musclefood offered me a few weeks of their Do The Unthinkable plan to test out and blog about, it really was perfect timing. Today I thought I’d share you with my thoughts; along with a ‘WHAT I EAT IN A DAY’ whilst on the plan.
What is Musclefood Do The Unthinkable?
Musclefood Do The Unthinkable is a meal plan delivered to your door; where you get all the food (lunch, breakfast, dinner AND 3 snacks!) you need for the week (you can pick from 5,6 or 7 days of food depending if you want days off to treat yourselves). Prices start from 60 pounds for the week, which I thought was really reasonable given that you literally wouldn’t have to do any food shopping for that week-and portion sizes are really generous too! Of course, you’re paying for the convenience of it all and that the hard work of planning is done for you! You also get a recipe binder and a workout DVD (I didn’t use the DVD as I need to be careful about exercise post c-section).
Is Musclefoods Do The Unthinkable plan gluten and dairy-free friendly?

One of the questions I wondered when asked to try the diet was: Can Musclefood’s Do The unthinkable be done on a gluten and a dairy-free diet? I couldn’t find many answers when I googled this so I decided to set myself the challenge and share it with you all in case it’s useful! Whilst the plan doesn’t necessarily claim to cater for coeliacs, it is actually really easy to find which products suit your dietary restrictions. When you sign up, you make your own selections from a list of options. For breakfast-there were several egg options, nakd bars, The Protein Co breakfast balls and perkier porridge pots (my fave) which were all gluten and dairy-free!
Lunch and dinner had plenty of options too. These tend to be a mix of ready meals and 10-minute meal kits (that are very easy to prepare). The meal kits are great if you are worried about dietary restrictions as it’s fresh produce and you can clearly see all the ingredients in front of you. The great thing about the plan is it isn’t complicated; for example, my favourite meal plan was ‘Lemon and Thyme’ cod which contained potatoes, fresh fish, lemon, thyme, broccoli and garlic (it did have a butter sachet but I just used my own dairy-free butter) Yes, I could source this separately but everything was in one packet so I simply bunged the fish in the oven and popped the broccoli and potatoes in boiling water. If you’re only gluten-free, they also do a gluten-free pizza in two different varieties (goats cheese and chicken tikka) but they contain dairy.

If you need something quick for work, there are lots of Live Clean ready meals (usually rice or potato-based) that also don’t contain gluten and dairy. The Lemon Chilli Chicken (pictured below) and Persian Lime Chicken with Quinoa were great. Again, the ingredients are all listed on the back and they contain no added preservatives or additives.

My favourite part was the snacks-I thought this would be the worst part for free from but I discovered so many new things and you are kept really full from 3 snacks a day! I loved the olives and vegan cheese bean buffs in particular.

What I Eat in A Day on Musclefood Do The Unthinkable Plan (gluten and dairy-free)
I found the plan really varied, although I tended to stick to the same breakfast (the cranberry perkier porridge pots as I loved them). Lunch and dinner I did gravitate towards chicken and fish-although I discovered the steak and stuffed sweet potato meal kit was safe if I substituted the Philadelphia cream cheese for a dairy-free one. I ordered 2 of this kit as I really liked and cooked it for me and my husband (if I knew I was out for dinner one night for example and wouldn’t use all 6 dinners). The steak was excellent. Anyway, here’s what I ate on a typical day…

My verdict: Musclefood Do The Unthinkable review: does it work for a gluten and/or dairy free diet?
I really would recommend the plan. It’s been really useful in helping me keep healthy postpartum and if you are looking for a meal plan that you can customise to your own dietary requirements and does all the hard work for it, this is it! I also love how simple it keeps things too; I liked that the ten-minute meal kits were really easy and only had a few ingredients as it makes it feasible to keep things going and recreate them after you’ve stopped the plan. I didn’t start the plan to lose weight (you can select a lose weight option or a ‘toned’ one or a ‘gain muscle one’) but I feel much healthier since starting it and have lots more energy too! It’s really educated me and got me back into simple meal prep and taking care of myself! I loved the recipe binder ( a lot of the recipes in it are naturally free from) and will be using the DVD once I’m looking to gradually get back into exercise after having a baby.

It sounds like a great way to make eating a gluten and dairy free diet easy. I love that it’s ready made as it is a great time saver. The cod sounds yummy!!
I’ve heard of Musclefood but had no idea they do a meal plan. I’m a vegetarian so I’d be interested to find out if they can cater for a meat-free diet.
My youngest is gluten-free for years now. They didn’t have anything like this when he was young, this sounds very easy and convenient, perfect for busy folks.
Sounds good and we’re big fans of porridge pots too, so would love to give them a try x
This sounds like a great meal plan and I am glad you have found it achievable on a dairy free and gluten free diet. It is great to see them catering for dietary needs like this.
Never tried a meal subscription service before but this looks great. Love the variety of snacks. Amazing that it worked well for your gluten and dairy free diet.
Sounds like a good plan for those wanting / needing to be gluten free
I’ve tried I think it was 5 days worth of this plan and found it really good. I have to admit I loved the pizzas they offered and it was nice to not have to think too much about prep! It is great that they offer somethings which are gluten and dairy free.
I think having a choice and range of foods like this is excellent.
