This weekend my husband and I ventured to Shanghai. As I’m constant on the look out for places that offer healthy dishes due to my crohn’s disease, I thought Thai food would be a relatively safe bet. I fell in love with how healthy Thai food was when visiting Krabi back in February, so I was keen to see whether Thai Gallery would provide an authentic experience.
First up, the decor is what made the evening for us! Set in a former art gallery, I was really blown away by the decorations of this place. It was so quirky and kitsch, which I’m a huge fan of.

The menus were also works of art!
As for the food, our reviews were mixed. As I’m currently on a low residue (low fat/fibre) and dairy free diet, I found lots of options that were great for me! I ordered grilled ginger chicken, pad Thai and crab rice. My husband who prefers a spicer option, felt it was a little bland but for me it was just right.

I’m always a little worried about travelling while sticking to a restrictive diet but shanghai has so many options that I’d definitely recommend to it anyone who has to be careful what they eat! All in all we had an amazing weekend and I can’t wait to return and check out more places to eat healthy!
Have you ever visited Shanghai? How do you stay healthy while travelling?

I was there in September 2011 and I absolutely loved this place. It’s full of beautiful pictures and artwork I could not stop looking at. I see you treated yourself with some nice food afterwards. Omononomomo! 😀
It looks beautiful! Like your husband, I love the spicy options. x
