Occasionally here on the blog, a product launch is so exciting I like to give it a mention even before it hits the shops! Today is one of those days!
Galaxy was one of all-time favourite chocolate bars before I went dairy-free, so I’m so excited to read in the news today that Galaxy is launching THREE new dairy-free, vegan bar on Monday! These bars will aim to replicate the creaminess of milk chocolate rather than be a dark chocolate bar.
Where can you buy the Galaxy vegan chocolate bar?
According to reports, it’ll launch in Tesco first on Monday 18th October. It’ll then be available a bit later down the line on Ocado and randomly, Amazon (oh gosh, my Amazon Prime account is going to take a bashing!)
How much will the new vegan galaxy bar cost?
The new bar is set to cost £3, which whilst is probably at least double the original price, isn’t too far off the standard for a dairy-free bar of this size (100g) when we think of brands Moo, Raw Halo etc. However, Mars is a huge corporation so you would think they would have the resources to bring out a bar at a lower price. What’s more, it comes in three different flavours: Orange, caramelised hazelnuts and caramel and sea salt; so it’s good to see different offerings beyond the usual dark chocolate. Although whether it actually TASTES like Galaxy chocolate and isn’t just using the name is yet to be seen. This article quotes that they have done taste tests on the bar and scored well-but only against dark chocolate (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always the most palatable). There are plenty of brands doing vegan ‘milk’ chocolate well already in my opinion, such as Raw Halo and Moo.
Is the new Galaxy bar suitable for vegans ?
As well as being dairy-free, it’s also certified by the Vegan Society. Because of this, it *should* avoid the ‘may contain milk’ warnings that places like Marks and Spencer’s use; allowing it to be suitable for those with milk allergies too.
