Birmingham’s New Wellness Scene

Today I’m going to be thinking about my hometown:Birmingham. Since moving back home in April, I was at first really shocked about how it haa changed so much. As a health blogger, I was so excited to see how the wellness scene has really evolved and how now healthy eating birmingham is really catching on!

First of all, I am loving how many gluten free places there are now are in Birmingham. I previously blogged about my guide to Gluten Free Birmingham in this post.

From fresh gluten free wraps at Frais to amazing gluten free vegan brownies at Warehouse Cafe, there are more options than ever before.  In fact I’m debating writing a part 2 to my guide since I’ve now  discovered even more gluten free restaurants in Brum, including the brand new Leon restaurant which has just opened in Grand Central.

Secondly, the shopping scene has absolutely exploded in the last few years and now my hometown is one of the must-visit places for a shopping break. Yet as well as the big named brands flooding to Brum, there’s also some super independent shops. such as Natural Healthy Foods which stocks everything from raw vegan cakes to mock meats.

I was also lucky enough to recently attend the Good Food Show in Brum. I was worried it was going to be full of your traditional foodie items but was so surprised to see the number of wellness brands out in force! From locally produced gluten free rolls to the lovely folks at Delcious Alchemy. The queue to checkout raw nut butter by the lovely local Nut Blend  was just as long as the queue for wine tasting. The message was clear: us Brummie’s are more health conscious than ever!
