Going Beyond Food: Free From Round-Up

freefromrounup

I know I am always blogging about free-from foods and even free from travel but I have started to explore more and more free from products outside this. To me, it makes sense that if I’m putting so much effort into my food choices, I should probably consider the impact of all the other products in my life outside this: everything from what I put on my face to what I clean my floors with! Here’s a little round-up of the free from products I’m loving.

From l-r: Breathe Easy kitchen cleaner; Deborah Mitchell Heaven Tinted Moisturiser; Natural World Chia seed oil; MOA Daily Cleaning Ritual; Evolve Organic Beauty; Dr Botanicals Superfood Oil and Neom Candle.

Breathease is the first product I’ve been trying. I’ve often noticed I get a ‘tight chest’ feeling when using some cleaning products and have been trying my absolute best to avoid these products when possible; however although I know vinegar and lemon juice are supposed to do the trick, sometimes I’ve barely got time for a quick spritz. Breathe Easy is free from these harsh chemicals and suitable for those with asthma and allergies.

The second is Deborah Mitchell’s tinted moisturiser; which I was kindly gifted at The Blogger’s Festival this month. All of Deborah’s products are natural and suitable for those with eczema- I’d seen the moisturiser before but I’ve tried several organic natural moisturisers in the past: this was the first time I’d seen one with added colour too. I’ve loving using it so far; it’s very lightweight so perfect for those days when you just want a quick dose of colour and let your skin breath.

I am also loving how many products are using foods to boost our skin lately. I was kindly sent this lovely smelling superfood facial oil from Doctor Botanicals. It’s pricey but you only need a tiny amount and it smells so fresh. I’ve been dabbing on day and night and noticed how much fresher my skin is looking without makeup! Another oil based product is this Neom’s candle. I know these are a complete blogger cliche but I haven’t tried one until I found it for £14.00 in TK Max, so over half price! I didn’t realise until afterwards that Neom only use completely natural oils in their candles; making the smell so much more noticeable than my average cheap IKEA one. I also tried this Chia seed oil  I’ve seen plenty of hair oils but none using chia seeds- it seems this new superfood is working it’s way into skin and haircare too.

evolvebeauty

This beautiful leg gloss from Evolve Beauty was in my goody box at the fab Blogger Tiki Party a few months ago but I only recently tried it. I am very dubious of leg glosses since I am so pale and tend to look like a sparkly orange mess when I try them but this 99% natural products adds a subtle sheer and makes your legs feel bloody amazing. I tried this at a wedding and felt like I was in a gilette advert. My legs were just so smooth!

The final product I’ve been trying is MOA’s daily cleaning ritual; which is a completely natural balm that does wonders for dry skin- I think I’ll be using this during the winter much more ! It’s also recommended for eczema and psorasis too and comes with a handy bamboo cloth. It’s definitely worth a try if you suffer from sensitive skin.

Free-From’ Freebies

I’ve been trying to read up more and more on natural products; eventually I’d like to experiment with making my own too.  I’ve linked a couple of free kindle ebooks below that have given me some ideas if you fancy a read!

  1. The Breathe Easy products sound great, my son is asthmatic and finding ‘free from’ can be tricky sometimes (I live in the middle of nowhere with not much choice). I need to try Breathe Easy kitchen spray! Nice fin on the Neom Candle, bargain!
Great post, thank you for sharing xx

  2. I’d never really put too much thought into ‘free-from’ products, but I’ve noticed them appearing more frequently lately. The leg gloss is definitely worth looking in to! 🙂

  3. We did a series on cleaning and personal care recipes a few years back. My co-author has coconut and corn allergies, both of which are also skin sensitive, and literally every cleaning product is coconut-based — the natural and the chemical. I clean most things with vinegar, baking soda, or cheap vodka.

And for skin, I’ve been amazed how great oil cleansing worked for me — it seems to either be awesome or awful. For me, it’s been great, and I’ve loved being able to tweak my recipe when my skin or the weather changes. Maybe some of these recipes will work for you: https://adultfoodallergies.com/category/whatever-wednesdays/allergy-friendly-personal-care-products/

  4. Exploring “free-from” products beyond food is a commendable step towards holistic wellness, addressing not just dietary needs but also minimizing exposure to potentially harmful chemicals in everyday products. The shift towards natural ingredients in skincare and cleaning products can significantly benefit those with sensitivities such as asthma, allergies, or skin conditions like eczema. As we become more conscious of what we put both in and on our bodies, integrating products like natural tinted moisturizers, chemical-free cleaning agents, and organic beauty oils can enhance our health and environmental impact.
