Daily Diaries, 14th November

blogheader2
I got a new blog pic!

The weekend’s here (well in China it is anyway!) so what way better to celebrate with another daily diary entry (You can read my first daily diary entry for November: here) Here’s what I’ve been up to this week.

Monday

Monday was the start of the exam period which I hate. For one I have to invigilate, which consists of walking around a room in silence desperately challenging myself not to look at the clock! Then after that hellish experience is over, I have to mark the things! And I used to think I had it bad as a student? After work, I went for a horrendous thai meal that left me feeling ill and made me vow not to even attempt eating out in Ningbo anymore! The food I make at home actually tastes way better and doesn’t leave me feeling sick. Unfortunately, the main thing my husband I like to do together is eat out!

However, it wasn’t all bad, I did manage to finally blog about turmeric– something I had been planning to do for it while. For those who didn’t catch the post, here’s a beautiful collage I made of all the gorgeous turmeric recipes that my fellow health bloggers had shared with me…

I made it using Picmonkey, which is fast becoming my go to place for all kind of blog collages.

Tuesday

Tuesday was a pretty easy day workwise as I had no exam invigilation. Afterwards, I went into the centre of Ningbo and spent a ridiculous amount of money on expat food. I spent 80 Yuan (8 pounds!) on a big bag of granola- it’s so frustrating how expensive healthy expat food is in China but as we’re not really going anymore (see Monday) it seems worth it- I’d have spent that on a few glasses of wine without thinking. On the way there, I came across this dog fiercely barking at a chicken (who looked nonplussed!) and just had to take a snap!

Oh yeah, and the owner had dyed the dog’s ears pink… as you do!

Wednesday and Thursday

dailydiaries

On Wednesday, my nutrition course arrived which I was really excited about! I can’t wait to get stuck in! It’s pretty hard going- each unit requires an 2-3 pages long essays so it’s a long way from the first multiple choice course I did! But after I’ve completed everything and done my clinical practice, I will be fully qualified to set up my own nutrition business which is the big dream! I also blogged about Headspace. and a really interesting article I read about the role of positivity on our cells. I’ve been doing the Headspace program since Monday as a way of trying to de-stress! It’s a great app and I’d really recommend it. I am quite tempted to sign up for the full program as each time you do, they donate a program to someone in need which is just lovely.

On Thursday, I discovered granola+coconut cream=winning at life. If you’re dairy free, I’d really recommend  this as a way of enjoying deserts! Its’ so delish! Finally, as a few of you shared the cashew nut love last week, I’ve posted a pic of the pumpkin seed, coco cashew nut butters I ordered this week. Nut butter is such a great way to get protein and fats in your diet. Many people with crohn’s or digestive problems, assume you can’t eat nuts but you can if you blend them into butters! And they taste better too!

Friday

So back to the present- today we decided to get ready to go to Shanghai tomorrow to get our dog’s blood tests done (They need to do it to take them back to England with us! To basically prove they haven’t got rabies, they have to take their blood and send it to Europe which seems a tad dramatic but anyways!) Also looking forward to eating out at some of my fave healthy eating places and just generally chilling!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a great weekend!
