I’m always slightly skeptical when another fruit or veg is suddenly hailed as a superfood. Take Kale for example: I tried it, I was nothing special and it doesn’t seem to be nutritionally superior to other green veggies such as broccoli. Yet everywhere I go I’m offered kale in various forms: juiced (God knows how, I can literally get nothing out of my juicer when I used it), made into potato crisps, sprinkled over salads the list goes on. Anyway, I digress, this post is not a rant about kale but a guide to turmeric (including some amaze turmeric recipes!) Because for me turmeric is something that truly lives up to the superfood hype. For those with crohn’s or another inflammatory condition like me, turmeric is proven to have an anti-TNF effect similar to Remicade. For those who are lucky enough not to have needed to understand the previous sentence, put simply turmeric is an absolute genius at blasting inflammation. Let’s take a look at what else it can do…

Turmeric is one of the few spices where scientific studies have actually proven it’s medicinal effects (If you are interested here’s an example) Personally speaking, I juice turmeric almost every day and found it made a real difference to my crohn’s. My brother Jack (when forced, love of nutrition doesn’t run in the family) also uses it for eczema and it’s really helped his skin. My routine had consisted of just chucking it in the juicer, but thanks to the fabulous new Health Blogger community, I have a ton of turmeric recipes to share to provide inspiration on how to include turmeric in your diet.
1. Turmeric Humus from The Food Crafter (Humus with a kick? I’m in heaven!) These gorgeous humus is really simple to make but a great way to get extra turmeric in your diet.

2. Raw Chocolate Superfood Protein balls from The Healthy Blue Bird
I was really surprised to find turmeric in a sweet dish but these protein balls look divine.

3. Spiced Tumeric Latte from Allerjean. I’m not a coffee drinker, but if I was I’d definitely give this recipe a try. Perfect for the colder nights….
4. Tumeric and Sweet Potatoe falafel by Trinity’s Kitchen.
I am so excited by this recipe as I love all the words in the sentence: sweet pots+tumeric+falafel=Immediate win!

6. Turmeric and Mushroom Rice (also by Trinity’s Kitchen)
Trinity is on a turmeric roll! Another one of her recipes to jazz up rice.

7. Warming Lentil and Turmeric Soup by Naturally Ariana This soup looks almost too pretty to eat (but I would manage!) I love how Naturally Ariana makes her photos so beautiful.

Do you have any turmeric tips to share? Do you use turmeric in your diet? I’d love to hear any turmeric success stories!

What brand tumeric would you recommend? I would like one to use in cooking, not just a daily supplement. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this roundup! Turmeric is such a versatile ingredient, and I love seeing creative ways to use it beyond the usual recipes. It’s amazing how one spice can add warmth, flavor, and a beautiful pop of color while fitting into so many different meals and drinks. I especially appreciate recipe collections like this because they make healthy eating feel practical and inspiring rather than repetitive.
