After being thoroughly pampered during our stay at Opposite House, we then moved on to stay another night at its sister hotel: EAST Hotel Beijing. I thought we’d lucked out with the first hotel but we enjoyed our time at EAST Hotel Beijing just as much.
One word (well phrase…): East Hotel Beijing is in the middle of a shopping mall.
To be honest it could have been any old room after I’d learnt that, but luckily it was also fabulous! Going back to location for a second, EAST Hotel Beijing is located in the middle of Indigo shopping mall- a little way out the centre of Beijing (a 30 yuan ride from Sanlitun). The mall had everything: a great western bookshop, loads of restaurant choices and plenty of clothes shops too. It was hitting the 40 degree mark during our stay so it was nice to explore a different part of Beijing that was indoors!
Back to the rooms….
As a write this (back in my Chinese apartment with its rock hard mattress) I can still remember just how comfortable our bed was at East Hotel Beijing! The glass windows were absolutely amazing, you could just stand on the ledge and look at all of China below! Which I did…frequently. I tried numerous times to take snaps of the outside view but couldn’t get a good shot.
The bathroom and I also become very well acquainted-I loved the stone look (very spa chic)- the bathtub was huge (I feel I write a lot about tubs in my reviews but it’s literally my favourite activity) and the walk in shower even came with a seating area (just in case your shampoo routine is particularly intense!)
East Hotel Beijing is all well known for its eating establishments such as Feast (the fab cafe pictured below), Xian (a stunning bar with divine cocktails-It’s Happy Hour before 9 too!) and Hahaki (a chinese restaurant). Like I mentioned with The Opposite House, you really don’t need to leave the hotel.
Although it is well established for business travelers, I would definitely also encourage travelers to check out East Hotel Beijing. It’s reasonably priced, with great facilities both in and around the hotel. Like its sister hotel, the service is second to none which makes for a truly relaxing trip to Beijing!

Ooh I didn’t realise you stayed in opposite house and East! I’ve had brunch/cocktails etc in both and they were both great! I’d love to stay in Opposite house but it’s 10 minutes walk from my house so might be a bit silly ha!
