In today’s post, I’d like to share some pictures of our trip to Hong Kong this summer and write about some of the healthy food restaurants in Hong Kong. In the blur of posting Bali and Chiang Mai pics, I kind of forgot about our HK trip! HK had been on my to do list forever and while I’m so glad I did it, I’m not sure it’s a place I’m in a rush to get back to. My big problem with HK is that it was just ridiculously HOT. Perhaps visiting during July wasn’t the smartest thing I ever did. I tend to find my Crohn’s symptoms seem much worse in humidity so it wasn’t the healthiest of travels (I actually found HK a lot less health food tolerant than Bali , which surprised me!) but we did manage to find some healthy food restaurants in Hong Kong.
Nevertheless, we still managed to enjoy ourselves and as usual take plenty of pics. Our base for the 3 days was the Dorsett Mongkok and I’d recommend this for anyone that wants a cheap place to stay but does not want to experience what life might be like in a prison cell. Don’t get me wrong, rooms were still a little small compared to mainland China but in a ‘well, this is cosy’ kind of way! More importantly, the bed was comfy, the shower was fab and the location was quite decent. Another huge bonus is the hotel provides a free smartphone to use with internet and make free international calls while we were out and about. Which was a huge lifesaver when we were lost or needed to gleefully call everybody we could in England. t £70 a night, I’m told it was an absolute bargain. Because another thing I hated about Hong Kong was that it was really bloody expensive!

Anyway, on to the photos! The big highlights for me, were definitely the Peak and Disneyland!

Then on to Disney…

Just to put my health hat back on for a moment and just to say as a word of warning the food at Disney is terrible! Healthy options are none existent! It seems you can bring your own food in, but it was difficult to find something that wouldn’t wilt in the heat!

And finally, Avenue of Stars…
I give up on night time photography for now, but it’s still a lovely photo regardless of it’s less than fantastic quality!

Have you visited Hong Kong? What did you make of the weather/humidity/crowds/hotel rooms that resemble prisons? Let me know!

Lately I’ve been really wanting to go to Hong Kong. Everyone always talks about HOW amazing it is. I’m watching for cheap flights….I’ve defintely had to stay in places that remind me of jail cells. Its fun- reminds me not to break any laws 🙂
The hugging zone 🙂 I’m so happy to go back to that lovely place through your eyes! I’ve been there, but luckily I could avoid those hotel prison rooms, haha!
