Ningbo-What to Do

This weekend I had one simple aim:to explore the city I live in (Ningbo, China) and take lots of photographs!

I must admit I did start to take Ningbo for granted after the first few months of living in China. However, I was recently inspired by the travelling triplets current series of love your city blogposts. It reminded me to try and find the beauty in my home city as us expats are often too busy thinking of the next place to travel to!

Luckily, I didn’t have to look very hard! The sun was shining, the birds were singing and Ningbo’s beauty was out in full force!

First up was a walk through Zhongshan park with my puppy Bella. In China, parks are always a real meeting place and because of the sunshine, it was packed! Inside people were listing to musical performances, exercising and just chilling out.

Ningbo Zhongshan Park is a beautiful place to explore on the weekend.

Afterwards we went for a drink and spot of people watching at Gulou (Drum Tower). There was a Chinese opera performance in the middle of the square that drew quite a crowd!

Gulou is such a beautiful building and is always bustling-it’s full of food stalls, coffee shops and tiny shops. It was lovely to just to sit outside and watch the world go by!

Finally, I strolled across to Heiyi Avenue-a large upmarket shopping area in Ningbo. The park attached has such good views of the river and the Ningbo skyline! Unfortunately my camera had died so I was only able to take a few snaps!

It really was a perfect weekend! If you ever travel to China,I’d definitely recommend adding Ningbo to your travel itinerary. I’d also encourage anyone, whether you live at home or abroad to take a closer look at the city you live in! You might just be surprised what it has to offer!

The blue skies and warm weather have been lovely haven’t they? I had a gorgeous day walking around Beijing on Saturday too. Unfortunately Beijing has been coated in horrific pollution the last few days. Hope it goes away again soon. 🙁 Is Bella your dog? She is the cutest!

it looks so amazing. I’m so happy to see that Ningbo has such a beautiful temple there. I would definitely love to visit it! How long did you stay there?
