You all know I love a good dessert, but here’s a gluten-free one with a difference! London-based business Ohlala has made macarons since 2013 and is proud to have created the world’s first tampon macarons to highlight a real issue for women around the world.
By partnering with forward-thinking charity Bloody Good Period the brand will help end period poverty by donating £10.00 for each box of eight tampon macarons bought via the Ohlala website.
The delicious macarons are handmade in Bloomsbury-they’re gluten-free but not dairy-free unfortunately (although they are supporting vulnerable women so I am happy to make an exception!). Delicate white macaron shells are filled with fresh vanilla, raspberry or rose buttercream and finished with an authentic and edible blue ‘string’ of raspberry. Each box of eight will contain two blood-red tampon macarons.
For every single box of Ohlala tampon macarons purchased, a month’s supply of sanitary products will be bought. This campaign is designed to help the fight against period poverty that affects one in 10 women in the UK* alone, with proceeds raised going to buy period packs for asylum seekers, refugees and women with low income.
Ohlala Founder Meredith O’Shaughnessy says: “Ohlala has always been about servicing women in a joyful way. We created the world’s first tampon macarons to give back to women who need it most. By partnering with Bloody Good Period, we are raising awareness and providing supplies to asylum seekers to help end period poverty.
Bloody Good Period Founder Gabby Edlin says: “Bloody Good Period is excited to work with Meredith and the team at Ohlala as celebrating female creativity and collaboration is central to our work.
