This weekend I was lucky enough to visit the Good Food show in Birmingham. It was an amazing time as not only did I score free tickets (thanks to the power of Twitter) but I also got invited on stage to help out Hemsley+Hemsley during their cooking demonstration! Cue pictures of me fangirling below………..

It was my first time using a spiralizer so I was a little nervous I’d mess up with a camera in my face! Luckily, it was super super easy which makes my desire to own one of these stronger than ever! The talk itself was really inspirational and gave me a bit of a kick up the butt to try new things. I love that (like in their cookbook) the Hemsley sisters aren’t just about plant based foods- there was plenty of meat options, quick fixes and talk on the importances of good fats!

I had to get a quick photo with them afterwards! I felt healthier just standing next to them!
I also managed to pick up quite a few purchases while at the show. It’s been around five years since I was last there, so I was really surprised at how many healthy stalls there were there! My top picks were:
1. Pulsin: A Gloucestershire based company that makes protein powders and raw gluten/dairy free brownies that taste super decadent!
2. Munchy Seeds: Roasted seed mixes perfect for adding to granola.

3. Cakes with Secret Ingredients: Cakes made with vegetables! Yes, you heard it right! With everything from sweet potatoe brownies to courgette lime loaves, I loved this clever idea. It also gave me some great inspiration beyond traditional gluten free flours.
4. Umani dressing. This super-healthy dressing is made with brown rice miso and is perfect for adding to salad or marinating tofu! It’s the first dressing I’ve found that has no sugar, preservatives or other added nasties.

Did you make it to the good food show? What did you think of it?

I went too, although thankfully no one made me go on any stages but it looks like you had a lot of fun up there! I’m yet to give in to the spiralizer craze…is it worth it?
