Clear skin is every girl on earth’s dream, and we tend to go the extra mile to achieve that. We grab as many skin products as possible to get that glass-like skin. What we need to remind ourselves is sometimes, external treatment will only do so much. A healthy diet is also key to bringing out our skin’s best quality.

Fruit and veggie juice is a quick way to ensure our daily intake of nutrients. They are full of vitamins and many other qualities beneficial for our body and skin. Here are some fruits and vegetables you can use as ingredients for your daily juice.

Apple

Yes, an apple a day can keep a doctor away—even dermatologists! Apples are packed with vitamin A, B complex, and C which have lots of benefits for your skin and body. These nutrients boost your skin health by producing more collagen and preventing skin from aging early. You can enjoy apples either straight from the fridge or turn them into juice. It’s good either way!

Beetroot

This vibrant fruit offers a bunch of nutrients beneficial for your skin. Beetroot juice is believed to help combat acne and vanishing blemishes. It also can act as nourishment for dry lips (because lips need attention too, right?). Beetroot can purify your blood, thus making your skin look healthier than ever.

Lemon

Getting clear skin might not be easy-peasy lemon squeezy, but it’s surely achievable. Lemons will help you with that. A high pH level gives lemons the ability to lower oil amounts on the skin, thus producing less acne. Lemons are commonly used for skin brightening and reducing dark spots. Hence incorporating a daily dose of lemon in your diet might be beneficial.

Carrot

Not only your eyes but your skin will also thank you for consuming carrots. Beta carotene contained in carrots will provide you protection for your skin from UV damage. It constrains sebum production, which is the cause of acne breakouts. Carrots also have antioxidants that prevent free radicals from going into the skin. You need a good glass of carrot juice to shove all these benefits down your stomach.

Tomato

Tomatoes are known for their rich antioxidants and are used to treat hyperpigmentation. This juicy fruit (or vegetable?) will help you get that youthful, supple skin with its vitamins and nutrients. It’s also got lycopene which could behave as an anticancer agent. Get all the benefits from tomatoes quickly by throwing them down the juicer for you to enjoy.

Cucumber

As cool as it is, cucumbers also have some cool benefits for your skin health. It has a high percentage of water which is good to hydrate your skin. Drinking cucumber juice regularly gives your body a good amount of minerals and vitamins, helpful for rejuvenating the skin.

Spinach

Popeye the Sailorman probably had that glowing skin for consuming that much spinach. High in vitamin A and C, spinach juice is helpful to regenerate skin cells as well as to keep it looking youthful. So, including a glass of this in your diet will definitely serve you a good number of antioxidants.

Recipes

While the ingredients mentioned before have lots of actual health benefits, you can explore many other fruits and vegetables to consume for your skin’s sake. The fun part: you can mix a few of them into one juice and get as many nutrients as possible in one glass! If you’re not sure where to start, here are some juice recipes you can try out yourself.

  • Beetroot + tomato + carrot juice: Add half a beetroot, two tomatoes, and two carrots into the juicer. It’s better to avoid sugar, but it’s still okay to add some in a moderate amount. This is a well-known combination of detox juice. Consume this daily, and you will start seeing some improvement in your skin condition.
  • Cucumber and mint juice: Put one sliced cucumber into the juicer or blender, a piece of ginger (not too much), a few mint leaves, and some honey to taste. This combination is a refreshing one with a bunch of skin benefits!
  • Tomato and spinach juice: Mix 1-2 tomatoes with a handful of spinach leaves, then add one tablespoon of lemon juice along with some mint leaves. Add sugar or honey to your liking, and then you have a nutritious juice to enjoy.

While consuming juice is a great way to fulfill your body’s need for nutrients, remember that you still need to pay attention to other aspects of your lifestyle to achieve healthy skin. First, do not neglect the importance of a good night’s sleep. Second, adding exercise to your schedule is also essential to keep your body in a good and healthy condition. And last, don’t forget to also drink water along with juice intakes.

  • Hi Jenna,
I agree with this great list, full of goodness!
Just a word of caution about the spinach, do not eat too much raw, you know, you might get a lot of oxalates, its not very good for you.
    Thanks!
