Hi guys; It’s time for another favourites post and now it’s April’s turn! I can’t believe how quick time is going- I have been back in the UK for almost a year now! (for new readers- I used to live in China) This month has seen my blog having a makeover (which I’m in love with!) and lots of new healthy food products to try. So here’s my pick of the best…
1 Yumcha: lower-sugar iced tea (£3.95, Amazon and various delis/farmshops). When I was sent this, I was initially skeptical since I am not a huge iced tea fan (It just tastes like I’ve left my tea on the side and forgotten about it ) but I couldn’t believe how refreshing these are! As I’ve mentioned before, I am constantly on the hunt for low sugar drinks which aren’t sweetened with things like Aspartame and I think I’ve found it! These refreshing iced tea cordials come in lots of flavours but I opted for elderflower, sour Plum and Morrocan mint. I’d really recommend given these a go if you are looking for a natural low-sugar option; as considering you get 20 servings it’s really good value. I’m hoping to make ice-lollies out of these when the weather gets warmer.
2 Teapigs Peppermint Tea. I just bought a jumbo box of 50 of these yesterday (which cost me a tenner; yes I know that’s a ridiculous amount of money to spend on tea) However, this is now the only mint tea I want to drink! It is so much stronger and for want of a better word mintier than regular mint tea bags. I find mint tea really helpful for digestion and this one almost instantly soothes my stomach. If you are looking for something to help with cramps or bloating, try it now!
3 Nutri-bombz (£4.95, Online only) are super-healthy snack bites made from completely natural ingredients (and most are completely gluten and dairy free!). What more, they come delivered directly to your door in four snack size boxes of 3 bites (giving you 12 in total- which is so much cheaper than similar ones I’ve seen which go for around £3 for 4)
I am really loving these;especially the chocolate brownie flavour. My absolute fave thing is they come labelled with extremely clear nutrition information- in terms of protein and fat and you get even more info when ordering online (each flavour comes with ingredients and nutritional benefits). If you are looking for a healthier version of a graze box with clear nutritional benefits- this is it!
4. Zizzi’s Pizza
Did you know Zizzi’s are offering a completely gluten free and dairy free pizza? This is my new go-to takeaway and you have to admit to looks like the real thing! No lumpy non-melting cheese here! I am beyond impressed with how good this tastes- the only thing is it labelled as the ‘vegan pizza’ so when I try to add meat toppings, the waiter usually gets really confused ! I wish Zizzi’s would make it clear this is also an option for lactose intolerant or milk intolerant customers!
As it’s been the Easter holidays, I’ve been really busy but my two favourite events were the Blogger’s Hangout Tea Party in London and The Friction Free Shaving Event. The first was the lovely Blogger’s Hangout with my friend Sam We met some lovely foodie brands, which I hope to feature on the blog soon in more detail!) What is so great is you get to meet the people behind the brands; which since I blog so much about food- is something I love doing!
My 3 favourite products are pictured above. Just Bee; a spring water drink infused with honey. A bit too high in sugar for my liking but still a much more natural alternative to water. Chika’s Gluten Free Plantain crisps which were such a lovely change from the usual nuts/dried vegetable snacks I see! Finally is Jake’s Boost Nut butter which is by far the most nutrient dense nut butter I’ve seen. The superboost spread contains 10 different nuts and seeds and not a peanut in sight! I really think this is going to be everywhere soon! It’s a great product for those who want maximum nutrition from a nut butter.
FRICTION FREE SHAVING
I know I don’t usually post about beauty but surely the whole point of my favourites post is I can post what I love! I just wanted to give my final favourite to the lovely guys at Friction Free Shaving who held a super event for us at Bar Opus. Not only did I get to sample cocktails with some lovely Birmingham bloggers but I also got my very own rose gold razor (engraved no less!) I actually think it’s a very clever idea: you sign up and pay as little as £3 and each month you get a brand new razor with 4 blades through your letter box in a nifty box.
So that’s my April favourites. Remember to checkout March Favourites here and let me know what you’ve been loving below!
